The organizers of the seventh annual Pearls of Wisdom Oyster Roast and Barbecue want you to know it’s no joke. It’s not an April Fool’s Day prank. Hundreds will gather for the Virginia Beach Education Foundation (VBEF) fundraiser Saturday, April 1 at 24th Street and Atlantic Avenue from 1-5 p.m., and tickets for adults and children are still available.
Each ticket includes an all-you-can-eat buffet of raw and roasted oysters, pork BBQ, fried fish and chicken, clam chowder and beverages. There will also be entertainment by Wonderland and a live auction.
The annual VBEF event supports the foundation’s teacher grants program and in honor of its 25th anniversary this school year, the VBEF has awarded $125,000 to deserving teachers and schools.
