Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) is partnering with the Military School Liaison Officers and Lynnhaven Mall to host the fourth annual Art of Being a Military Child citywide art contest and exhibit. The contest is open to all VBCPS students in grades K-12, and the submission deadline is Friday, Dec. 18.
Submissions must relate to being a military child, and topics may include, but are not limited to: military lifestyle, transitions/change, parents/family, teachers/school, cultures experienced and lessons learned. Winning artwork and other select pieces will be displayed at Lynnhaven Mall throughout April in recognition of The Month of the Military Child. Additionally, entries may also be selected for submission to the Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC), a national organization that features student artwork in its publications and website. Artwork from 12 VBCPS students was featured in the 2015 MCEC calendar.
