The kindergarten students in Sara Chiaverotti’s kindergarten class at Kingston Elementary School have been learning about what it means to fill the buckets of others within their classroom, their school, at home, and in the community.
After reading and discussing the story, “How Full Is Your Bucket,” the children are practicing using kind words, showing compassion for others and saying thank you to others by giving back. As they learned, when they demonstrate kindness, it helps to fill their personal buckets.
“When my kids buckets are full because they have shown compassion, they feel confident about learning each new day,” said Chiaverotti.
Since the first day of school the children have been learning about and practicing compassion and kindness. As part of the kindergarten curriculum, the children have also learned about American symbols and patriotism.
In honor of Military Family Appreciation month and Thanksgiving, Chiaverotti’s class put all of learning in to action and collected supplies and treats for a deployed Navy Seal team.
