It was time of celebration and education at the Third Annual Hampton Roads Sustainable Living Expo (HRSLE).
This year, Virginia Beach City Public Schools again partnered with the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission, Hampton Roads Green Building Council, the city of Virginia Beach and many others to bring HRSLE to life here in Virginia Beach.
Throughout the event, more than 1,500 visitors had the chance to peruse more than 70 exhibits – all featuring information and insight into the work of energy efficiency in today’s culture.
At the event, VBCPS had plenty to enjoy.
Dozens of school employees, volunteers and administrators were on hand to celebrate the winners of the division’s Sustainable School Recognition Awards from the 2013-14 school year as well as the current year’s Pearl School Award winners.
The Sustainable School Recognition Award, developed in 2008, recognizes schools taking an active role in promoting environmental sustainability within their building and the community. For a complete list of winners, click here.
Similarly, The Pearl School Program, which was developed by the environmental group, Lynnhaven River NOW, acknowledges the quality environmental education programs in the region’s schools. For a complete list of all the VBCPS winners, click here.
