A big change is taking place at Indian Lakes Elementary this year. Cara Dibbs, the school’s Library Media Specialist, has turned the school announcements into an on-air news cast. The news team comprised of fourth- and fifth-graders runs a daily morning news show that is broadcast to the entire school.

The reporters are thrilled to be a part of this new production. The students and staff echo their excitement. “The kids pay attention more to our announcements now because they want to see what is going to happen next,” said Tammy Quent, a fifth grade teacher.

Student Jayden Taylor was pleased to see the words to the Star Spangle Banner on the TV stating that “It’s helpful for the littler kids because they might not know the words.”
But perhaps Kevin Ellison summed it up the best.
“I love them. I really do!”
