Bayside High School students were inspired by artist Su Blackwell to create book art sculptures that communicate an idea/concept. They incorporated the book and the sculpted forms together as if the forms are coming out of or connected to the book. Students applied subtractive and additive techniques in the sculpture. I’m proud of our Art teachers and students here at Bayside High School and Health Sciences Academy. I am always impressed and inspired by their work. These sculptures are even more exceptional up close.
These works of art were breathtaking…very interesting to see how our students think artistically. It was ingenious to display some of them in the library with all the other books. I am very impressed with our students and art department. Go Bayside!
