Creeds Elementary School and Ocean Lakes High School were two of just six schools in the country to earn a 2013 Paula Stanley Fidelity Award from the International Alliance for Invitational Education (IAIE).
According to its website, the IAIE is a non-profit organization “dedicated to the development of positive school, work and home environments.” IAIE has developed its Invitational Education, which is an “approach for authentically creating, sustaining and enhancing truly welcoming learning environments intentionally based on trust, respect, optimism and care, that facilitate better learning outcomes and increased personal growth.”
For example, school staffs are encouraged to approach discipline from a positive standpoint, create a welcoming atmosphere within the building and take time to talk to students about out of school activities.
To earn the award, both schools had to be officially recognized as an Inviting School as well as show how the Invitational Education approach has both impacted the school and how the schools will use it in the future.
