The school division’s bus tracking app has changed. The new app is called Edulog Parent Portal Lite and is a free download via the App Store or Google Play.
The app enables parents and students to see, in real time, when their school bus is near their assigned stop – before or after school. Users can also customize settings to receive push notifications when the bus enters the area. Instructions on how to activate the app after download are available on vbschools.com.
“We have 630 buses on the road each day transporting 45,000 students across 3,400 routes in the city,” said Executive Director of Transportation David Pace. “While we are almost always on time, this app will provide our riders, as well as their parents, real-time tracking information – something which can be particularly helpful during inclement weather.”
Edulog Parent Portal Lite also includes customizable features such as English or Spanish language preference.
Know when your child’s bus is near by downloading the app today!
Dear VBCPS:
I am disturbed that school is being cancelled at the mere possibility of heavy wind and rain, no heavier than we’ve had many times in the past. I have heard all the arguments for doing so, and they appear lame. If we in fact value our school system, we need to demonstrate that to our children by keeping it in operation other for true natural disastors.
Sincerely,
William J. Bosies
I can add my childs bus number and track the bus but it won’t let me add my child.
What is the district code for PAES
Last year the Here Comes the Bus app was useful initially until buses changed. I believe the changes were due to mechanical issues. The app is almost completely useless. Given last years change of bus numbers I’m guessing this app will not handle that well since I can go by student. Thankfully my boys are twins on the same bus. The app also doesn’t rotate so useless to view on a home tablet in landscape. The app does not list the stops or give an eta for the stops. The app did not send me any alerts and yes alerts were on. And finally there isn’t even an icon for the school let alone an eta for the bus. Just like the useless phone and text messaging notices which require you to still open your phone and press a number, this technology is equally antiquated. Top that off with ancient chrome books and we we have a trifecta of poor technology. I am certainly no expert nor do I know the constraints on the school district (money, availability, support, etc.) but my six year experience as a parent in GAs Cobb county school district was light years better.
I’m curious to know what the reasoning was for changing the bus app to begin with. Last years app was far more reliable and user friendly. Now I rarely get the notifications and when I do they are an hour behind. Is there also an issue with the GPS on the buses? More than once I’ve opened the app to check on the bus and it has it updated the buses location since the night before. I submitted an email to the VBCPSBusTracker@vbschools.com for assistance the second week of school but haven’t received a response. If you’re going to offer a service like this it should actually work – otherwise just do away with it.
Our transportation office will respond to you directly.
