Virginia Beach City Public Schools students participated in the 31st Annual Great Computer Challenge March 5 at Old Dominion University. Secondary-level students competed in the senior division — grades 6-8 (Level III) and grades 9-12 (Level IV). The junior competition, for grades K-5, will be held May 14.
The Great Computer Challenge is a joint project of WHRO, the Consortium for Interactive Instruction and Old Dominion University. It is a competitive opportunity for students in kindergarten through 12th grade to demonstrate their knowledge of various computer applications and programming skills. Categories include: CAD, Desktop Presentations, Desktop Publishing, Graphic Design, Integrated Applications, Internet Scavenger Hunt, JAVA Programming, Music Composition, Scientific/Non-Business Programming, Video Editing, Visual Programming and Web Design. Not all categories are available at each competition level.
