Kendall Mallory, a senior at Landstown High School, won the Great Expectations Youth Award from the Virginia Beach NAACP at the organization’s Freedom Fund Banquet. Olympic gold medalist Gabrielle Douglas is a former recipient of the same honor.
Mallory is an honor roll student and is a starting varsity defensive tackle on the football team, shot-put and discus thrower for the track team, a member of the National Art Honor Society and volunteers at Piney Grove Baptist Church Pantry of Blessings and Knitting Ministry.
