Green Run Collegiate students traveled to the Chrysler Museum of Art Glass Blowing studios and met Glass artist Therman Statom and his team of glass blowers.
Students were able to view the artists at work as they designed and created a 150-piece glass fish display for the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters in Norfolk. The artwork will hang from the ceiling in the hospital’s lobby. Statom took time to speak to the students about his life as an artist and shared his thoughts on the importance of school and loving your chosen career path.
Students then traveled to D’Art Center in Norfolk, to meet more professional artists working with contemporary materials and concepts and participate in a figure drawing class.
