Kellam High School students are on the move in a big way this fall – and not just in prepping for their new building. Kellam students have been accomplishing some major feats – in a variety of areas – in just the past couple of months.
The Kellam High School Drama Department recently conducted its TOTS (Trick or Treat so Kids Can Eat) program. Students in various clubs around the school collected canned food on Halloween to donate to the Southeastern Virginia Food Bank. All total, Kellam High School students collected 12,308 pounds of food for needy families.
Kellam teacher Karen Johnston and her English Honors 12 students placed first in the Virginia Society for Technology in Education’s (VSTE) statewide, Multi-media Challenge. Both Johnston and Laura Howell, a computer resource specialist at Kellam, will be traveling to Roanoke this month to present and receive their state award.
Additionally, the Kellam High School Marching Knights traveled to Annapolis, Md. to compete in the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium for the USBAnds Mid-Atlantic States. The band placed fifth overall, and were also named the 2012 USBAnds Group 2 State Champions.
Way to go, Knights!
Go Knights!!
