Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) music programs are well known throughout the region, state and even nationally. Each year, orchestras, marching bands, choruses and madrigals perform in parades, community concerts and regional and national competitions.
Walk into any band rehearsal room and you will see rows and rows of trophies, medals and awards won over the years.
At the base of these successes are the elementary level music programs. Here, talented and dedicated teachers introduce theory and an appreciation for music at the earliest level. These teachers know that music enriches students’ lives and provides them with discipline and the ability to analyze, solve problems, communicate, work cooperatively and be creative, which are vital for success in a 21st century workplace.
Teresa Habib is one of those music teachers who shares her passion for music with not only her Glenwood Elementary students, but also with people with specials needs through her non-profit organization, RavensWay. Following a 21 year career in the United States Marine Corp, she entered a career switcher program and has been striking a chord with children ever since. Check out more of her story below.

Aloha,
WOW!! Such passion and commitment for children and the wonderful world that music can open up to them. Music is a universal language that all people can relate and communicate through. Ms. Habib keep up the great job you are doing. I have seen it personally demonstrated with your students at Glenwood ES. Be blessed in all your efforts.
