They carried banjos, drums and guitars.
The played French horns, trombones and cymbals.
They shook maracas, tambourines and spoons.
And all of the instruments that Creeds Elementary School students carried and played were handmade.
The school celebrated Fine Arts Month by having students create and play their own musical instruments in a schoolwide parade held March 17. Led by music teacher Robyn Alexander dressed as a drum major, students marched up and down the hallways, through the front door and outside past the Pungo-Blackwater Area Library.
Community members and library visitors smiled and waved as students, many dressed in green for St. Patrick’s Day, proudly walked by playing their instruments. It was their lucky day to be entertained by the Creeds marching band of musicians.
