For the fifth year, Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) is partnering with the Military School Liaison Officers and Lynnhaven Mall to host The Art of Being a Military Child citywide art contest and exhibit. The contest is open to all VBCPS students in grades K-12, and submissions should feature experiences related to being a military-connected child. The deadline to submit artwork is Friday, Dec. 16.
Winning artwork and other select pieces will be displayed in an exhibit at Lynnhaven Mall in April in recognition of The Month of the Military Child. Photos from last year’s exhibit at Lynnhaven Mall are available on the VBSchools Facebook page. Contest entries may also be selected for submission to the Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC), a national organization that features student artwork in its publications and website. MCEC has included artwork by VBCPS students in its annual calendar.
