Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) along with Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story (JEB Little Creek-Fort Story) and Naval Air Station Oceana (NAS-Oceana) were presented the 2013 Pete Taylor Partnership of Excellence Award at the Military Child Education Coalition’s (MCEC) 15th Annual National Training Seminar in National Harbor, Md. on July 9. This national recognition is awarded annually to acknowledge outstanding partnerships between school districts and military installations that work together to meet the unique challenges facing the nation’s military children and provide them with quality educational opportunities.
“This division – our staff, partners and military community – work together diligently to provide the strongest educational community for our military families as possible,” said James G. Merrill, superintendent of VBCPS. “To have this honor bestowed on us by MCEC reinforces the importance of the work we are doing, and is a great motivator to keep building these partnerships.”
