Thoroughgood Elementary held its second annual Military Appreciation Night. School counselors Michelle Jenkins and Kate Miller worked tirelessly to put together the “family fun” event to benefit our local military families.
There were refreshments in the cafeteria, a puppet show for the whole family, sessions for parents to attend, and activities in the gym for children of all ages. The parents attended sessions in effective parenting, handling stress and anger, money tips, and building healthy relationships (Fleet and Family Services helped deliver these classes). There was also a massage chair in the library!
Students played soccer, shot basketball, and made bracelets and keychains while parents attended the helpful sessions. In conclusion there was a raffle of gift cards, baskets filled with goodies, and even a stay at an Oceanfront hotel. See just a few photos from the event, which helped show the appreciation and support of military families at Thoroughgood.
