Strawbridge Elementary School recently hosted its first Environmental Expo to bring famlies, students and staff together to explore sustainability projects and efforts. Participants visited hands-on stations to learn more about home composting, sustainable foods, oyster gardening, climate science and much more!
Students worked hard to prepare for the event, collecting breakfast bags to use at the composting center and milktops to use for a milktop mosaic. Several Strawbridge Partners in Education including Lynnhaven River Now, Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge and Buffalo Wild Wings, hosted stations at the event. The school intends to make the Environmental Expo an annual event and hopes to epxand the program to include family sponsored tables sharing how Strawbridge families “go green” at home.
