Operation Smile club sponsors at Lynnhaven Middle School brought their students to meet with club members from across the city at the organization’s headquarters in Virginia Beach.
While there, students were divided by school and grade level to tour the building where they heard from other volunteers about their experiences. During the tour, students learned that the three main counties with the largest population of cleft patients are Japan, Peru, and Guatemala, saw before and after operation photos, the living style and conditions of patients, and how because of their clefts, patients are bullied.
This biggest hit from the trip? Easily, students were most impressed when one of the Operation Smile staff members sang “Let It Go” from the movie “Frozen” in 25 different languages.
