Caroline and Nate Foresta, with their mom, Gina, helped make the Whole Foods Market “5% Day” to benefit the Virginia Beach Education Foundation a success. The family brought some of the produce that was harvested straight from the Linkhorn Park Elementary School learning garden to sell.
“I want a bunch of people to buy my peppers,” Caroline said. “They were really fun to pick and they are one of my favorite vegetables.”
All funds raised today are earmarked for grants for school gardens, where students are provided the materials to begin and care for their own garden. The funds will immediately be available for the grant cycle that ends Oct. 3.
