For her senior project at the Global Studies and World Languages Academy at Tallwood High School, Kayla Milstead invited an African tribal leader to the school.
Joseph Ole Tipanko, chief, schiool teacher and leader of his Kenyan tribe of more than 5,000 people, spoke to several classes at Tallwood about his country.Tipanko is president of the MSGSA-OUTREACH organization which draws its members from Ntashat, an area of economic and social distress some 40 km outside of Nairobi. Tipanko told the students about his village’s culture and its work to improve tribal life by securing clean water sources and advanced educational opportunities for girls. The Cheif sells handmade tribal jewelry to raise funds for his village’s projects.
