Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) invites the community to join the division in celebration of national “Purple Up! For Military Kids” day. By wearing purple Friday, April 15, VBCPS students and staff will show their support of the strength, sacrifices and contributions of military-connected children.
Purple Up! day features the color that symbolizes the combination of all branches of the military: Army green, Air Force blue, Coast Guard blue, Marine red and Navy blue. It is one of several activities VBCPS is supporting during the Month of the Military Child to recognize its strong connections to a military community and the more than 18,200 military-connected students enrolled in the division.
The community is also encouraged to visit The Art of the Military Child exhibit at Lynnhaven Mall through April 30. It features artwork by VBCPS students and showcases their interpretations of what it means to be a military dependent, including deployments, transitions, patriotism, family and school.
