Being connected to the community means reaching out and helping those who need it most. Students in the Salem Middle School chapter of the National Junior Honor Society have embraced that concept.
The group recently completed a donation drive for homeless families in Virginia Beach. Several large boxes full of warm blankets, coats, hats, gloves, scarves and non-perishable food items were collected from the Salem student body and dispersed throughout the city to help families cope with wintery weather.
