Virginia Beach City Public Schools will welcome high school exchange students from the Canton of Vaud in Switzerland beginning this fall. The Canton of Vaud is located on the French-speaking side of the country.
The Swiss students will be the first to participate in the exchange under a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Commonwealth of Virginia and the Canton de Vaud, Switzerland. Virginia Beach is one of two Virginia cities selected to participate in this inaugural exchange.
The organization managing the program, Education First (EF) High School Exchange Year, is searching for four local volunteer families to host the Swiss students for the 2015-16 school year.
Host families are required to provide room, board and a supportive, safe environment for the students. The students, who will be between 15- and 18-years-old, will attend high school in Virginia Beach for a semester or a full year. Students come on the program with spending money and are fully insured during the exchange.
Families in the Virginia Beach area that are interested in hosting a Swiss exchange student should contact Todd King at 617-619-2753 or Todd.King@ef.com no later than June 30 to meet application deadlines.
