A second grade student at Pembroke Meadows Elementary recently enjoyed a surprise school visit from his dad, who was returning from a 10-month Navy deployment.

Liam Richards’ mother is a teacher at the school and captured the reunion on video. His family posted it on social media, and the video went viral. Watch the video here.

One of the comments on the video was from the Detroit Lions football team. Liam’s father, Chris, has been a Detroit fan from a very young age and passed along his love for the Lions to his son.

A representative from the team contacted Liam’s family. Liam and his father had a preplanned visit to see a game in Detroit. The team wanted to make Liam’s trip even more special and upgraded the family’s tickets to sideline tickets.

Liam and his father were able to see the game up close and meet the players, including cornerback Terrion Arnold.
