Kenneth Reichert, social studies teacher at Bayside Middle School, was recognized by the Adam Thoroughgood Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) for his outstanding performance in teaching and learning American history.

Eight years ago, Reichert completed the Troops to Teaching program that offers retired military the training to become classroom teachers.  He has taught in Virginia Beach for five years, the last two as a sixth-grade social studies teacher at Bayside Middle where he also sponsors the Debate Club and Great Computer Challenge.
