Pitre named Outstanding Educator of the Year

Congratulations to Jennifer Pitre, eighth-grade teacher at the Renaissance Academy, for being named Outstanding Educator of the Year by Wave City Care.

In addition to her superb role in the classroom, Wave City Care also acknowledged the great lengths Pitre takes outside the classroom to ensure the academic and personal success of her students.

Pitre is the sponsor for the ShineGirl program at Renaissance, which helps young women recognize their personal strengths and learn to set goals for higher achievement. In her role working with the school’s young women, Pitre also saw the need for basic necessities in her students’ homes. She worked with Wave City Care to get warm coats, shoes and other winter staples for her students.

Pitre will be presented her award at the 13th Annual Charity Auction this Friday, Feb. 8, at the Hilton Oceanfront Hotel in Virginia Beach.

  1. Congratulations…what a wonderful honor! I am so proud of you and the great work you do in and out of the classroom.

  2. Congratulations Mrs. P! Very proud of you and your accomplishments. The students are so lucky to have you.

  3. Im one of mrs.pitre’s 8th grade students for 2013. I enjoy her class, we do exciting activites and I enjoy writing amazing and intresting story’s. I’d like to thank mrs.pitre, if it wasnt for her and others who help me I probly wouldnt have honor roll or be a green shirt. Mrs.pitre motavated me every day and reminded me who I really am and that I was more then capable of bringing my grades up. She helped me work to the best of my ability, and that has helped me a whooooooole lot. If it wasnt for her i’d probly be sitting in mr.gatling’s office ready to get punished for another refearl. She knows her place as a teacher but she also knows her place as a caring young lady who is always there as a shoulder to lean on, or a person to talk to. I don’t know about anybody else, but I personally can say Mrs.pitre is one of the most amazing, loving and caring’st (if thats a word) teachers ive came across so far.
