Green Run Elementary’s Kathi McGovern and Luxford Elementary’s Michelle Kirkpatrick were both recipients of OfficeMax’s A Day Made Better award. McGovern is a fifth-grade teacher at Green Run, and Kirkpatrick is a third-grade teacher at Luxford. As winners, teh teachers received a box full of $1,000 in supplies and equipment for her classroom, donated by OfficeMax.

Each year, OfficeMax® and AdoptAClassroom.org work with school principals nationwide to recognize 1,000 deserving teachers with an A Day Made Better award and donated supplies. Principals nominate a teacher, and, if selected, OfficeMax associates join the principals on the first Tuesday each October with a surprise event to honor the teacher and present the donation.

According to OfficeMax’s website, The OfficeMax A Day Made Better program, in partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, aims to help end the need for teacher-funded classrooms.

Congratulations to all the well deserving teachers. I know Michelle and feel assured in saying she deserved this. To love teaching, is a gift. Thank you all for making school a great place to be.
