Magula named Virginia Curriculum Leader of the Year

Deputy Superintendent Sheila Magula has been named the Virginia Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (VASCD) Curriculum Leader of the Year.

“Though no one individual is responsible for the success and results produced by our school system, Dr. Magula has long served as the guiding force behind the design, expansion and implementation of high-quality curriculum and instruction,” said Dr. Aaron Spence, VBCPS superintendent.

Magula has been with the school division for 42 years. She began her career as a science teacher, and, since that time, has gone on to serve as a curriculum specialist, administrative coordinator, coordinator for middle school implementation, assistant superintendent for elementary schools, assistant superintendent for middle schools and associate superintendent for curriculum and instruction. She was appointed deputy superintendent in July 2004. She has twice served as interim superintendent.
