HRSCLT honors VB counselors and administrators

Five Virginia Beach City Public Schools’ employees were honored this year at the Seventh Annual Hampton Roads School Counselor Leadership Team (HRSCLT) Professional Development Conference.

Guidance counselors Lavell White, of Landstown High School, Dr. Amy Upton, of Great Neck Middle School and Anne Johnson, of Princess Anne Elementary School, each earned the 2013 Exemplary Professional School Counselor of Hampton Roads Award. White, Upton and Johnson were selected by their peers for the award, which praises counselors’ ability to advocate for students, serve as leaders in their schools, collaborate with school communities and work to identify barriers to student achievement and then eliminate those barriers.

In addition, Administrators Paula Johnson, of Landstown High School, and Claire LeBlanc, of Ocean Lakes High School were awarded the 2013 Exemplary Professional School Counseling Advocate of Hampton Roads Award for their advocacy efforts and support for their school’s guidance departments.

Hampton Roads School Counseling School Leadership Team (HRSCLT) is a regional, collaborative partnership between school counseling educators from five universities and school counseling supervisors from eight school divisions.
