Last year, Ocean Lakes Spanish teacher Samuel Caraballo authored a bilingual book entitled, “Estas Manos/These Hands.” That novel has now been identified by SpeakingLatino.com as one of the “Best 20 Latino Children’s Books from 2014.”
In the book, Caraballo compares the hands of family members to various plants that are found throughout the world. For example, at one point, the narrator compares her mother’s hands to rose petals, while her grandfather’s are compared to the ceiba tree.
Caraballo’s work received five stars from the website, which said “Samuel Caraballo’s poetic text is combined with Shawn Costello’s striking illustrations depicting loving relationships between family members.
The novel is sold on Amazon.com.
