Kevin Beardsley, the school division’s director of purchasing has been honored with the Virginia Association of Governmental Purchasing (VAGP) Distinguished Service Award.

“Kevin is the consummate professional. Kevin is an out-of-the box thinker, an excellent problem solver, and is always searching for ways to improve our procurement processes and gain quality products and services at the best prices possible,” said Chief Financial Officer Farrell Hanzaker. “He is well respected throughout the Commonwealth as well as across the country for his knowledge and expertise. As the CFO, I can rest better at night knowing Kevin is the absolute best at his job which makes my job a bit less stressful. Kevin is an outstanding leader and a pleasure to work with.”

According to the VAGP, the Distinguished Service Award is earned through service that results in state and/or national recognition that positively reflects on the purchasing profession; active leadership in purchasing organizations and community affairs; contributions to education and professional development at the state and/or national level; and promoting the good name of purchasing organizations and/or the purchasing profession.
