According to the SkillsUSA website, each year, more than 300,000 students and advisers join the organization, which helps to establish industry standards for job skill training in the lab and classroom as well as promote community service. Additionally, the organization holds local, state and national competitions in which students demonstrate occupational and leadership skills.

The WorldSkills Americas competition was held in São Paulo, Brazil at the Parque Anhembi exhibition center, where more than 20 countries participated. As a technical expert, Troxell was sent along with the 11 members of the WorldTeam SkillsUSA to represent the United States. The four-day competitions covered six skill categories representing 48 separate skill competitions.

However, Troxell’s travels will not end here: This summer, he will travel to Liepzig, Germany to participate in the 42nd annual WorldSkills International competition, where more than 52 counties will compete in the skills of their various trades and test themselves against demanding international standards.

Good luck!
