“Real” and “rewarding” are two words Daisia Nyayieka used to describe her feelings about graduating from high school.
“‘Real’ because it’s a wake-up call,” said the Tallwood senior class president, “and it’s ‘rewarding’ to know that with all that you’ve done these past four years, you get to take it on to take a different step and a different path. It’s just nice to know that it leads to a bunch of excitement and I can’t wait for that.”
Excitement and celebration are in store for all graduating seniors and their families June 13-17 as Virginia Beach City Public Schools hosts commencement exercises for its 11 comprehensive high schools, Renaissance Academy and Green Run Collegiate.
The schedule of ceremonies held at the Virginia Beach Convention Center is as follows:

Those who cannot attend a ceremony in person can still have a front row seat to the excitement. Graduation ceremonies for the 11 comprehensive high schools will be live streamed on the division’s website at www.vbschools.com/vbcpsgrad. Video replays of all 13 ceremonies will be available to view on the division’s graduation webpage and its YouTube channel. In addition, Virginia Beach Television (VBTV) will rebroadcast all high school graduation ceremonies as well as the Adult Learning Center’s GED recognition ceremony on cable channel 46 and has DVD video packages available for purchase. Families, friends and community members can also celebrate the Class of 2017 by posting a congratulatory message on VBGradwall. Each schools has its own wall and messages will be posted online through June 30. View VBGradwall or post your own note at www.vbschools.com/gradwall.
