Today, about 95 crew members and spouses of the decommissioned USS America are heading out on a reunion tour to various places in the Hampton Roads area, including Dam Neck and the Military Aviation Museum.
The first stop on this tour was Brookwood Elementary. The USS America has been a partner in education for the school since 1988. In fact, even after the America was decommissioned, they still sent monetary donations to help struggling families from the school during the holiday season. The school will be held a special celebration for the group, honoring their partnership over the past two decades.

We wanted all of you at Brookwood to know how touched we were with our 1st visit with the USS America group last week. Your program was excellent with only that short time to prepare. We thank all of you for a really good time and the goodies to eat. Your children were so well behaved. I just wish we had the time to stay for awhile to help out some. Being from IL we don’t get out your way much. Thanks again for starting our reunion out in a positive way. Thank You
