If last year was any indication, this year is going to be a busy one in the Technical and Career Education Center.
Three first-year carpentry students in Anthony Pawlowski’s carpentry class replicated an entertainment center for a Tech Center customer. Diana Torres, Sah’Danae Brinkley and Brianna Johnson used a picture of the furniture and adjusted measurements to meet the customer’s needs.
The girls then used raw material to create the furniture as an artist would a sculpture. The furniture cost $175 to make compared to the $1400 cost in the store. At the end of the year, the girls were already looking forward to creating more complicated and artistic carpentry pieces next year as second-year carpentry students.
