If your child resides in a zone earmarked for school bus transportation, be sure to check the school division’s website Aug. 22. That’s the day when bus schedules for the 2017-2018 will be posted on the school division’s WebQuery page. By simply entering your home address and child’s grade level on this page, you will be provided the appropriate bus schedule information.
Bus transportation is provided to all elementary students living in excess of 1 mile from school and for all secondary students living in excess of one-and-a-half miles from school. Regardless of distance, transportation is also provided if there is no safe walking route.
In addition to checking bus schedules, be sure to review important safety tips with your child, which are listed on the Transportation Services home page on the school division’s website, vbschools.com. These tips offer safety information, such as where children should safely stand while waiting for a bus or blind spots to avoid around buses, known as “Danger Zones.” Other safety advice includes how much time in advance to arrive at a bus stop, which is five minutes.
The Transportation web page also links to rules passengers should follow to make the ride home an enjoyable and safe experience, as well as frequently asked questions (FAQs). Answers to FAQs can be helpful since they contain phone numbers to call or actions to take in a diverse number of situations.
The entire Transportation team looks forward to seeing all bus riders on the first day of school, Sept. 5.
Will my two third graders ride the same
Bus they did lastyear?
Why are my children having to cross a major four lane road to catch a school bus? Why are they not getting a bus stop on their side of the four lane road?
Your web site links don’t work. They take you to the school bus transportation site that says no information available check the link.
We tested the links again and they are working. Can you try again?
The link still is not working. I would like to contact the transportation department but dont see anyway to do it.
Bus 450 going to ODS is over crowded and takes 45 minutes to get to a school that is 5 minutes away. The bus route should not be picking up kids closer to the school and then moving farther away to pick up others and then back-track to get back to the school, bus should pick up kids farthest from the school first and move towards the school.
In the afternoon it also takes all the kids to independence middle school that are playing sports kids on top of all the kids that are on the bus in the morning which is already full.
We’re going to check the website link. In the meantime, please call our Transportation Office at 263-1545.
