The second Beach Girls Rock! workshop of the school year, open to Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) female students in grades 5-8, will be held Saturday Jan. 27 from 8 a.m. to noon at First Colonial High School. Sponsored by the division’s Office of Opportunity and Achievement and a host high school, each BGR event focuses on empowerment topics for young women, including healthy living, leadership, and college and career readiness.
“Strong Mind, Strong Body” is the theme for the second Beach Girls Rock! workshop. It will begin with an opening session and keynote speaker, followed by student breakout sessions on art therapy, Pilates, Zumba, healthy snacks and recipes, and healthy body image. Additional sessions will be offered about the Legal Studies Academy at First Colonial High School and the Virginia High School League (VHSL).
Parents are welcome to attend Beach Girls Rock! workshops. The Jan. 27 workshop will include parent information sessions on cyber safety, establishing healthy eating goals, VHSL awareness, the Advanced Technology Center and the Legal Studies Academy.
Interested students should pre-register for the event in their school counseling office by Friday, Jan. 19. Students may also register at any time for the final workshop in the series scheduled for Saturday, March 17 at Ocean Lakes High School.

I would love my daughter to attend but she just turned 9 years old. Will you allowed a 9 year old to attend this seminar.
Great question. The Beach Girls Rock event is based on grade level, not age. The event is for girls in grades 5-8.
