First-grade students at Red Mill Elementary School had a “peep-tastic” time creating beautiful “peep-oramas” inspired by the book, Absolutely Not, by Matthew McElligott. The students had been learning about the parts a book: character, setting, and plot. Working in small groups they illustrated their favorite parts of the story, inside a shoebox diorama. For a special touch, “peeps” became the main characters from the story, Gloria and Frieda. Surprisingly, all peeps involved survived the activity without being eaten. Completed “peep-oramas” are on display in the school’s library.
