Patrick Mumm, a senior at Princess Anne High School, has been named a United States Senate Youth Program Delegate. One of only two students in the state of Virginia to receive this honor, Patrick was selected after taking a competitive essay exam.
The program recognizes 104 students nationally. Students with leadership are chosen to participate in the week-long experience in Washington D.C. During the week of March 8-15, 2014 delegates will, among other activities, hear policy addresses by congressmen, cabinet officials and federal agency representatives. The honor of participation is accompanied by a $5,000 scholarship awarded to encourage undergraduate study in political science and public service.
Patrick is the first student from Princess Anne High to be chosen to participate in this annual program.
Congratulations to Patrick for this honor! However, to correct your last statement, Alexandra (Alex) Lichtenstein, class of 2011, was also selected from Princess Anne for the USSYP program. 🙂
