Governor Terry McAuliffe will be at Kellam High School this Monday, Sept. 28, for a special education roundtable event. McAuliffe will join teachers from Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Hampton, Newport News, Isle of Wight, Williamsburg – James City County and York County as well as State Secretary of Education Anne Holton and Virginia’s Superintendent of Public Instruction Steve Staples.
The group will discuss reinvesting in education, reducing the pressure of testing and innovating the traditional high school experience. The public is invited to attend and will have the opportunity to submit written questions that may be used during the roundtable conversation with teachers. The event begins at 11:30 a.m.
McAuliffe’s visit to Kellam High School is one of the final stops on his statewide education tour. He has also met with groups of parents, students and community members across Virginia to talk about education priorities and the future of Virginia’s education system.
