Last month, Diamond Springs Elementary held its first Distinguished Young Gentlemen’s Assembly.
The Distinguished Young Gentlemen’s (DYG) club is a new group at Diamond Springs Elementary. The goal of the club is to teach male students manners and etiquette. Each month, male students at Diamond Springs Elementary dress in professional attire and attend an assembly. For the October assembly, male students learned about using manners, focusing on saying “Please” and “Thank You.”
All this work culminates in a special luncheon for the students, where they will practice the manners and social skills they have learned during the assemblies.
The DYG club is sponsored by kindergarten teacher Brandon Thompson, in addition to other male staff at the school, including Darrin Hawes, Joseph Mayers, Walter Dreuitt, Ernest Bethel, and Johnathan Rivera. Community leaders also assist with the club, including Steve Spence, a financial adviser with VALIC.
Decidedly debonaire!!Thank you…marvelous idea! Congratulations and best wishes for a successful program year!.
These young men are clearly on the path to success!
