VBCPS is fortunate to have amazing community support. Each and every school year, the local military population, businesses, parents, grandparents, and other caring individuals, partner with and volunteer in schools.
They give generously of their time and resources, each effort having a positive impact on our students and staff. Staff works hand-in-hand with partners and volunteers to provide meaningful, real-world experiences in classrooms, and students and school staff often volunteer with organizations to make the Virginia Beach community a stronger, healthier place.
This past summer marked the 10th year that members of Wave City Care rolled up their sleeves, grabbed rakes, shovels and paint brushes to help make sure that schools were ready and welcoming for students on the first day of school. It was an extreme school makeover, Wave City Care style.
I am proud to be a member of Wave Church and as one of the many volunteers that worked on a Saturday for several hours at Kings Grant ES this year, Princess Anne HS last year, Williams ES two years ago, and Shelton Park ES three years ago, I can attest to the remarkable work of this dedicated group of volunteers.
I love my church, Wave City Care, and everything it does for VBCPS! With being a teacher in VBCPS, it is so nice to see the change made across the district. I always love helping with the Wave City Care School Makeovers yearly, especially the painting. Thank you to all of the volunteers! You guys are awesome!
