On the morning of Sept. 8, VBCPS will welcome nearly 70,000 students back to classrooms. Families across Virginia Beach are spending the final three weeks getting ready for the start of school. They will be purchasing school supplies, new clothes, backpacks and lunch boxes.
And soon enough, teachers will return to set up their classrooms and begin their preparations for a year of instruction.
At the same time, there is another group working extremely hard to make sure everyone is ready for the start of school. Whether it is the delivery of textbooks and supplies, the refinishing of gym floors or performing a safety inspection on a school bus, the 5,000 members of the Department of School Division Services are putting their final touches for back to school.
