Each month, Superintendent Aaron Spence highlights one Compass Keeper for a special video edition of the Compass Keepers Club. The end product is then presented to the School Board during the Superintendent’s Report given at the second School Board Meeting of the month.
Virginia Beach City Public Schools is blessed with wonderful mentors who give generously of their time working the children. These caring individuals hope to strengthen student’s chances for success by serving as a friend and a role model for a student. As a result, students are able to communicate with someone who cares about them and can listen without judging. There are a number of wide spread programs across VBCPS. One of those, Newtown Elementary School’s Breakfast Club, brings together school staff, parents, members of the community and second and third grade students for breakfast and a life lesson once a week.
