VBCPS recently concluded commencement exercises for all 11 high schools and Renaissance Academy.
Over the course of four days, nearly 5,000 walked across the stage at the Convention Center to receive their diploma. Each and every one of those graduates has a story. For one student, the story was about overcoming obstacles.
Malik Featherstone found himself on his own at the age of 14, bouncing around, living with friends and for some time in an abandoned house with no water or electricity. Graduation was the furthest thing from his minds. Then he enrolled at Renaissance Academy where teachers and staff members refused to let him fail.
Congratulations Malik and the rest of RAs graduation seniors. You truly are the ‘class’ of 2015.
I am so proud of Malik. He is a winner because he never quits.
He talked with me about not being able to play in sports at Ocean Lakes High School; however, he indicated that he would not give up on his dreams of joining the military. You will accomplish your dreams…Way to Go Malik!
I thank God for allowing us to see and witness students be successful at The Renaissance Academy. It’s all taking care of Gods children. We will always love you Malik.
Sincerely,
Eric
