Virginia Beach is home to tens of thousands of men and women serving in our armed forces and many of those have students in our schools. As a result, nearly one-third of our students are military-connected and they face unique challenges such as transitions from one area to another or experiencing day to day life as a parent deploys, sometimes into harm’s way.
Kaitlin Duriga understands this all too well. The Princess Anne Middle School seventh-grader is the daughter of a Navy Rescue Diver who has been deployed several times. Following the tragic death of friend’s father overseas, Kaitlin discovered a recognition program and decided to implement it at her school. The project has gone schoolwide and now, on Fridays, red becomes the honorary school color.
This is amazing. Keep up the amazing work Kaitlin! Go Princess Anne MS JS2S!
