Courtney Brakob, Salem High School junior and Virginia Teachers for Tomorrow (VTfT) cadet, fashioned the winning t-shirt graphic for the 2012-2013 VTfT Chalk Walk.
The purpose of the Chalk Walk is to honor and support past and present teachers, and to promote the profession of education. By honoring inspirational teachers, the Chalk Walk aims to elevate the status of the educational profession and unite communities in a common purpose.
Brakob competed against other talented VTfT cadets from Virginia Beach who voluntarily designed t-shirts emphasizing and honoring the profession. VTfT cadets who attended the Virginia Teachers for Tomorrow Symposium earlier this year then voted on the designs to determine which design would represent the Chalk Walk this year.
Brakob’s design was overwhelmingly chosen from amongst her peers.
This year’s Chalk Walk was held on Saturday, May 11. Teachers and cadets met at the Neptune Statue on 31st Street, and wore Brakob’s signature Chalk Walk design.
