Last fall, seventh-grade life science students at Virginia Beach Middle School (VBMS) helped the city of Virginia Beach plant a new area of the Visitor Center with plants that will attract birds, butterflies, etc.
Their work is leaving a lasting impact. The plants have been used by monarchs. Several caterpillars were feeding on the plants and were collected to be raised in the safety of screened containers purchased by the VBMS Environmental Club.
Here are a snapshot of some of the caterpillars who have taken over the space the students worked on.
