Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain” may not be the first song that comes to mind when you hear the words Armed Forces School of Music, but it certainly lit a musical fire under Bayside High School students last week.
On Feb. 12, The Armed Forces School of Music at Little Creek Base sent a brass ensemble to Bayside to mark musically the beginning of a partnership between the School of Music and the high school’s band program The ensemble consisted of AIT students, meaning they just completed Basic Combat Training for the Army and are now receiving advanced musical instruction before being assigned to an active duty Army Band.
The ensemblen played popular musical selections including Lauryn Hill’s “Killing Me Softly,” and Fun’s “We Are Young.”
I am glad to see Bayside bringing in the Armed Forces and Working in Partnership with the Army Band !!
They were great! The band and orchestra kids had so much fun!
